Hi fellas,
as some of you might know i have started a new job which involves me cycling to camden and back every day. sometimes i need to think of anything else then the pain in my legs!
More then once my mind has wondered into the world of the iron kingdoms and i have had a germ of an idea for a warmahordes campaign! I know campaigns are not really our thing i would like your feedback.
Basically a new island has been rediscovered off the broken coast that was a forward operating base for the orgoth invasion, rumours abound about the treasure that was abandoned there during the orgoth retreat. Depending on what faction you are it is the most important thing in the world i.e. Khador a wonder weapon to will all wars, for ios it is a remnant of one of their gods, for Ashlynn it is enough treasure to buy off khador etc, etc.
We all land with 100pts of forces and 2 casters, all at a seperate beach an equal distance from the centre where the item is located.
Now the strategy begins. Your army can only march as fast as your slowest unit, so do you race off with your quickest units to secure an important crossing point or do you march on mass with your entire force. Also if you leave your harbour undefended will it be captured by another force leaving you no way off the island, will you also garrison forces at certain stratigic points to cover your retreat? I think this could thorw up some important game choices i.e. do i hold a mountain pass with a unit of gun mages and 2 mules against 60 points of cryx and try to inflict as many casualities as possible before trying to escape or fight to the last man and hope for reinforcements, etc?
