Somewhere in either Round 1 or 2 the Marines question just how many points the Necrons have invested in their troops. With all of their excellent ballistic skill, toughness, armour saves and resurrection abilities they surely have to be costly.
"170 POINTS" "GET A GRIP!"
To say that they were surprised by just how cheap these walking, self resurrecting death dealers were, would be understated! Oh how everyone chuckled!
Rounds 2 and 3 see the Tyranids and Imperials going toe to toe, followed by the Necrons making a charge for the relic with their Warlord and Command Barge. On the other side of the table the Necrons send their C'tan to take out the Tau Pathfinders and in turn the Tau take pot shots at the already depleted Tyranid army. Meanwhile near the relic the Tyranids and Marines have taken the time to glance round and notice that the Necrons are on the relic, now all 3 are locked in a fight and the Necrons are proving hard to shift from the objective. Necrons face very few casualties, one of them being their command barge.
Rounds 4 and 5
THE TAU AWAKEN!!
Having stood by taking potshots at the Tyranids and the Necron C'tan the Tau feel now is the time to Deepstrike Commander Farsight.
The reason for waiting so long to bring him in from reserves was due to bad dice rolling and absent mindness from their commander.
Commander Farsight Deepstrikes next to the objective with 3 Bodyguards and immediatley takes out the troop of Necrons that were holding the relic. A cry of 'thats how its done' in a cockney accent are reported to eminate from Commander Farsights command group but cannot be verified!
Meanwhile Tau troops along with their Riptide go after the C'tan as it finishes off the last of the Pathfinders. It retreats behind cover and takes out half a troop of fire warriors before taking its last fatal wounds.
From across the board the Hammerhead now starts to delver its devastating submunition rounds into the other 3 armies locked in close combat, taking out troops and racking up the points. During this time the Necron warlord is removed from the board, another casualty of war!
Farsight and his Bodyguards then move onto the Relic and find themselves facing a full on attack from the remains of the Necron army. A charge by the Necrons and another subsequent charge by the Tyranids sees only one Bodyguard bite the dust, however the Tyranids make it onto the objective.
The battle ends and the dust settles, points are added and the victors are announced.
The Tau are victorious!!!! "For the Greater Good" now all must fall into the embrace of the Tau Empire! Except Nids and Necrons oh, and we dont like Marines!
