Nice write up mate, you've pretty much confirmed what i thought this would be like. Good luck to GW on this, it could bring the injection of young blood they need.

Nice write up. So to me it still seems to be a 40Kpseudofantasyintroductiontoreal40Kwhenyougetolder type of game. Will be interested to see the development of figures if they will revert to the classic steampunk-fantasy mash-up or if they go 40K way.

There has been quiet some rumble about the Skaven having a simple possibility of winning the game in turn one. Screaming bell + Fateweaver combination to be precise.

And supposed new rules for Ratling guns: Before rolling to see how many shots are fired by a Ratling Gun, the skaven crew can crank the gears into overdrive. If they do so, roll a dice; on a 1 the model immediately suffers D3 mortal wounds as the frenetic crew trap their claws in the gun’s mechanisms. On a 2 or more, the Ratling Gun fires 4D6 shots, instead of 2D6. Maybe we could implement them into 7/8th edition?

A friend of mine, a Kingston GW shop manager, had a nice comment about Age of Sigmar:
"AoS is fast paced, simplified and relies on you and your opponent agreeing whats fair/fun to play with. I think many are struggling with 'balance' but its simply finding a balance between yourselves and not being a dick."

So GW have created a game that requires people to be reasonable about what to field, do they know their customer base at all!

pesonally I think it stops the "it's the games fault, not mine!" dickheads from bending the rules to the point of destruction and then hiding behind the rules.
It is possible to win a AoS game by fielding two miniatures! BUT that bloke is only going to have so many games before it's confirmed they are a dick and people stop playing them.
it puts the responsibility back on the players.
Its a brave / lazy move by GW.
If you want to be a dick head play Warmahordes where we are all at it!

So both players field Screaming bell + Kairos Fateweaver and then see who rolls initiative or what's it called to see who wins the shortest game ever. Then they both call the other player a dickhead and return to 8th ed.
