Well I had my first game at Marquee Models veteran night, after an invite from the guy who runs the store. We played late war and I faced off against 3 fallschirmjager platoons, AA gun, an 88, 3 Stugs and 3 rocket launchers. I had my usual 3 para platoons and 3 Sherman's with firefly, it was only 1000 pts! Damn those Germans! We rolled for the game and we got breakthrough with me as the defender. After some bad advice during setup a sherman and firefly were destroyed and the other fled when the 88 opened up on them. The rest of the advice I received for the setup was fine, however I had lost the only guns I had on the table within the first turn. After that it was do what paras do best .....dig in! Then from turn one to the end of the game my paras were pelted by artillery as his observer danced around the battlefield. I managed to pin the Germans down on my left flank with 1 platoon and as you will see from the photo I managed to surround the objective with my other 2 platoons. Turn 4 saw the Germans bring on their reserves in the only place he could, just where my Paras were waiting. My opponent decide to assault as soon as they came onto the table, this did not go well as they lost nearly half their platoon and were pinned back. Turn 5 saw his 3 stugs come in from reserve just behind his other infantry reserves. With the Stugs firing 12 shots at my Paras in the woods they failed to kill any. My turn 5 saw me fail to wipe out his infantry reserves but I still had his 2 platoons pinned on my left flank. With that and the start of turn six my opponent failed to clear me from the objectives and vice versa. So the game was an official draw. In the end I lost 3 tanks, 1 infantry and 1 piat team. My opponent had lost 8 teams. Lessons learnt Go with my gut instinct on deploying tanks my initial idea was better and certainly would have seen them survive beyond turn one! The advice I was given regarding a defensive line on my left flank was genius, it pinned down his platoons which were protecting his artillery. Also as the group at MM like to play mid war and I found out that my Paras can play mid war in Italy or Tunisia with no further models needed if I don't want to! Yay cheap. [a href="
