thegman was saying the other day that he wanted someone to play high elves to test the board. I have lots of very old High Elf models and wouldn't mind giving them a go. So what exact models do I need to field a force? Also I can't promise they will be painted any time soon, some little green chaps have my full painting attention. Also will need to see the board and someone will have to hold my hand for a few games.

happy to walk you through your first games elf info is attached Lothern Sea Company.docx (12.39 KB) You will need at least 4 units and a Warlord Hearthguard are 4 man units and tend to be elite units Warriors are 8 man units and tend to be men of the line Levies are 12 man units of conscripts and are not relevant to the elves so you will need a minimum of 17 figures.....easy money and is probably in keeping with the elves and their diminishing numbers Common dice are rolls of 1 to 3 uncommon dice are 4's & 5's Rare dice are 6 there your in

high elves.doc (27 KB) The High Elf list was posted up on a previous thread.. I have attached a slighly revised version. The first coulmn is wrong and will need to be changed ( Compare with the Uruk board) Otherwsie its good to go playtest wise. Lothern Sea Company. The Elves of Ulthuan have established trading bases on the western coast of Luistria. They maintain amicable relations with the Slann with whom they trade. The Lothern Sea guard is built up around companies of spear and bow armed troops supported by cavalry and companies of noble adventurers searching for excitement drifting through. The Lothern Sea Company can not take Levy. Warriors are equipped with bows and spears and do not suffer a reduction of armour as do other archers. Warriors may be mounted increase move to L. Heathguard are companies of nobles and may take bows or double handed weapons. One unit of Hearthguard may be mounted and may have heavy barding increase armour to 6 but the unit suffers two fatigues for each additional activation instead of one. Modelling the figures: Warriors on foot use a mix of spearmen and bowmen or Lothern sea guard. For mounted use Silver Helms or the Ellyrian riders. For Hearthguard , you can go for Swordsmasters, Phienix Guard, etc. Mounted take Dragon princes. Warlord, is up to you, take a mounted elf on a war eagle or unicorn if you have teh figures otherwise the Tyrion figure is always cool. Tactics are built around shooting, solid defencoisve lines and timed cavalry charges. A bit like Normans but more shooty. The withdraw ability is usefull as it means that you can get out dodge if it goes badly, the shield push ability is also usefull, as it means that you drive your opponant beyond S so that they can be shot on your next activation. The list also has two magic spells. I'm hoping it won't be to effective.

Thank you guys, looking forward to first game! I'm still a bit unsure of the difference between mounted and foot troops, do mounted still cost 1 point? if so what do they get that makes up for the speed increase? Also Seaguard have bows and spears, will they still cost 1 point as they can do the job of both spearmen and archers? I was going to use 3 units of seaguard (24 men) if they do the job of both spearmen and archers as effectively? 4 White Lions and a nice looking White Lion as my Highborn. Cavalry will have to wait as I have the men but not the horses. I have also put together a battle board that i have attached. Thanks again. back trans 1 grid 2 final.odt (69.55 KB)

all units are 1 point regardless of weapons or horses. Mounted units have movement of long (12") but cannot take advantage of cover from shooting.

Mounted increases your movement to L (12") but your armour is reduced by 1 when shot at. The other disadvantage is that mounted cannot enter buildings There are no rules to reflect what weopons units have in combat/. With archers the usuall disadvantage is that the armour value is reduced by 1, so with high elevs because they have a kind of cordinated misspear and bow attack the spearmen lock shirelds to protect the archers hence the fact they receive a normal armour value. That's my figurin amyway
I left a copy of the Pagan Russ battleboard at the club that battleboard has abilities that could work well for Dark Elves : some of which are very nasty:
1) units outside of M of another unit can become exhuasted 2) All units ( including friendly) kill one figure per fatigue 3) All unikts within M of the warlord tale a 5 dice shooting attack ( including your warlord)

Excellent, Seaguard it is!
Now all I have to do is find that box of Elves...
Not sure about the dark elves, i think looking at the noble High Elves has turn me off their bloodthirsty cousins But always nice to have options.
Sorry, forgot to add if anyone wants boards making up just let me know, happy to do them.

Played about with boards, made the boxes the same size and made the text uniform. Please feel free to use or ask for changes, when people have settled on the dice symbols they will use I can add them too. I will do all the other soon...
