We have had a few incidents in the shop where people have been upset by someone giving unwanted advice or advising someones opponent, this is now banned, if anyone is caught doing this they will forfeit their gaming for that day.

its a tough call. It's happened to me a couple of times. I think people just think their helping.
To be honest when it's happened to me (thats getting advice) I make a point of sticking with my original decision and vocalising that.
The tough one is when your in two minds how to play something and you ask someone what they think. I will have to stop doing that!

macca - we would... but the withdrawal symptoms would be horrific! We express the hate now, so we don't have to for other systems... where would we channel our contempt?! =P ... OK... so presumably, advice is welcome, so long as it is requested... or if a gamer explicitly states that they'll permit a (limited) commentary of sorts...(?)

How about a suggestion box where we can all write down sage pieces of advice on paper and put them in a box! Then when a player needs some advice he can draw a piece of paper from the box! You could have words of wisdom like....
"If you are playing warmahordes and your opponent is Shaogore.....surrender now"
