My number of Orks is slowly growing what with Vulture warriors, the Killing and Gorka Morka.
So what do I need to make a small, effective Warband for 40K?

There's no such thing as a small ork warband in 40k, however I am sure Lano or Damon can advise.

In a word MEGANOBZ.
Large units of boyz with shootas backed up by a couple of small units in trukks, also gretchin to screen the ork boys and at least 1 dakkajet, plus either some bikes or deffkoptas and MEGANOBZ.
Unfortunately with orks they are not a cheap army to use effectively so the best bet is to try and get stuff off ebay, they are the most fun army to use though.
did i mention you need MEGANOBZ.
