NECRON TURN 5
Imotekh had little chance to survey the battlefield as he and his War Council were engaged in combat with the last imperial warlord sammael. The only significant movement came from the three Doom Scythes who headed toward the imperial guard stormtroopers who were threatening the Necron flank, letting loose with their weapons one unit of stormtroopers was obliterated, the other escaping with a single casualty, it was now that Anrakyr projected his mind into the leman russ vanquisher aiming the turret at the leman russ punisher but failing to damage it. The combat involving Imotekh and his War Council was a short lived affair with so many Necron Overlords involved sammael and his unit stood little chance and the imperials lost their only remaining warlord, the two Canoptek Spyders engaged the baneblade and managed to cause some damage to it but not destroy it.
IMPERIAL TURN 5
Things were looking desperate, with the death of Sammael no Warlord remained to command the army and most of the objectives were firmly in necron hands, things did not improve as the Baneblade attempted to crush the canoptek spyders and was promptly destroyed as one of them tore into the engine causing a huge explosion which took the spyder with it. The Stormtalon Gunship finished what it had started by destroying one of the necron doomscythes. The Imperial Fists controlling the bunker added more bodies to the fight against the c'tan shard hoping to destroy it but the combat ended in stalemate.
NECRON TURN 6
Surely it was only a matter of time before Imotekh's victory was assured, the two remaining Doom Scythes moved off to engage their targets whilst the annihilation barge planted itself over an objective. One of the Doom Scythes opened up on the stormtalon destroying it, whilst the rest of the Necron force tried and failed to finish off the token resistance left by the imperials. The C'tan Shard finished off the remaining imperial fists in combat with it and consolidated onto the objective, victory seemed certain.
IMPERIAL TURN 6
with renewed hope the imperials realised that they could snatch victory from the necrons as they still had a chance of capturing five of the six objectives, they had a firm grasp on three with the necrons only controlling one they could not capture, with a swift manoeuvre the Dark Angel Ravenwing sped onto one objective, this was the easy part with nothing near to contest and only some terrain to hinder them, it was then that disaster struck, one of the four squad members lost control of his bike and smashed into a large pillar, his bike exploded leaving his blackened and broken body mere feet from the objective, but worse still the shock of this caused his squad mates to abandon their position speeding away from the objective and leaving it in necron hands. The Imperial Fists in the bunker moved as close to the objective as they could and unleashed their firepower on the c'tan shard destroying it, unfortunately their close proximity to it when it exploded resulted in the death of four of their squad and this proved too much for the remaining members who fled the battlefield also leaving this objective in necron hands. The efforts of the remaining Imperials was for nought, the battle and the Rarthos System belonged to Imotekh and his Necrons...
